Your Health Is Important

Food, exercise and sleep are the core elements in a healthy lifestyle. Neglecting any one of them can lead to problems in the longrun so it's important to have a good balance of all three. You'll be amazed by how much more energetic you'll feel if you aren't already getting a healthy balance in these three aspects.

Food

Good eating habits play a major role in fighting desease and staying healthy. A third of men and a staggering 70% of women in South Africa are classified as overweight or obese. This means South Africa has the highest rate of obesity in sub-Saharan Africa.

But this isn't to say those who have a healthy weight have a healthy diet. Even these people can encounter major health risks if their diet is poor.

These include heart deseas, type 2 diabetes, certain types of cancer and hypertension. It's far too important to ignore the link between good nutrition and overall health. By leading a healthy lifestyle your body will get the nutrients it needs to stay strong.

Exercise

Exercising on a regular bases is necessary in order to stay physically fit and healthy. It can help reduce a number of problems some of which include heart desease, high blood pressure and diabetes.

Exercising also helps control your weight because when you exercise you burns the calories you consume from eating food and if you burn more calories than you take in you'll lose weight.

Walking and cycling trains your body to use less energy for the same amount of work and the more your body is conditioned to doing these exercises the better your heart rate and breathing will be which means a healthier heart and less risk of heart desease.

Sleep

Sleep is incredibly important in protecting your mental health. When you're asleep your body works to keep your brain functioning in a healthy state.

Lack of sleep can affect how well you react, work, learn and get along with people around you. Studies have shown that lack of sleep can alter activity in some parts of the brain which can lead to trouble in solving problems and making decisions.

This means that task take longer to finish and more mistakes are made.

Sleep defiecency not only affects you on a personal level but also the people around you so it's important to get at least seven hours of sleep a day.
